The NOVUS Nominal Ledger allows our clients to run their business entirely through NOVUS. From front end policy documentation and IBA accounting through to trial balance and balance sheet.
The only disadvantage to this has been the necessity to enter all company expenses as Nominal Ledger journals. The creation of the Purchase Ledger Module overcomes this. The Purchase Ledger works to the same principles as any other accountancy package, ie purchase ledger accounts, aged creditors, invoice settlement, remittance advice, VAT reports, etc. It is fully integrated with the NOVUS Nominal Ledger and users of NOVUS will be familiar with the look and feel of the programs.
Invoices are entered and can be distributed across different expense accounts and divisions. A single invoice can be split into instalments. Purchase Ledger payments can only be made through NOVUS office bank account accounts.
Processing payments and matching of purchase invoices is carried out in a single screen. Invoices are selected for full or partial payment and the bank account and payment reference are entered. On saving the transaction, entries are made into the cashbook, purchase ledger, nominal ledger, matching history and the outstanding amounts on the purchase invoices are updated accordingly. A remittance advice is automatically produced if required.
The records entered into the nominal ledger, cashbook and matching history tables are all visible using existing enquiry programs in NOVUS (ENLBATCH, ENLACC, ECASH, EMATCH) making the Purchase Ledger a fully integrated module of the NOVUS package.
